I like malibu, does the front hatch lid double as secondary flotation ? How long have you had it?,

I've not heard nor tried to use the hatch as secondary floatation, but with its design (from memory) this seems completely plausible.

Here's the full story...

Bought it late summer of 2010, and absolutely love it! Like Zee mentioned, easily one of the most underated boats out there. Used it for the rest of that season. She became a garage wall hanger because I acquired a revo 13 that same winter. I've been reluctant to sell though because I do like to paddle, and this boat does it effortlessly! Fast, efficient, tracks like a far longer hull, and offers a nice blend of primary and secondary stability. Only added the rudder to compensate for downrigger trolling. Now I have a garage full of boats to include two 16' Hobies, so this sexy ride gets virtually no use. In fact, the only time she's come out in the last 24+ months were for HOW events. Truly amazing boat that is purpose built for our PNW waters. Great for everything outside of skinny swift streams/fast rivers. She deserves more than decorating my garage, so its time I let her go...

The first kayak I bought back in 2002, was malibu pro explorer, great kayak. It's front hatch doubled as secondary flotation. It was formed like a solid plastic pillow. It also had a small round hatch built into it with a cloth pocket perfect for keys or wallet. My son used it once as a boogie board, I think he was 9 at the time. The other two malibu I had, a tandem, and X factor that I bought off Allen in 2007 I think, didn't have that option. (The tandem now that I think about doesn't have a front hatch) it looked like it had been cut away.
Let me check my finances. Looking at two O.K. a guy has for $1000. I am partial to malibu though.

When Rav was paddling his X13, I had a Tarpon 160.  People always talk about the Tarpon 160 being a great paddling boat, but after trying his X13 I completely disagree.  It's a great boat, and as you see in the picture, we filled the tankwell to capacity with a double limit of bottomfish that year.

Joking aside, that was the benchmark day that all bottom fishing trips are now compared to!

Couple more pics, but that's not the seat that would be included.
