Alkasazi hooked me up with a smaller seat to secure my boy in the tank well for some summer fishing (thanks again bro!).

Tanner (7 yrs old) assuming the position with his new fishing pole that Santa hooked him up with.

Still working on an easy to reach rod holder for him.  I'll probably mount one on the top of the orange box, or on the back of it.  Then again, I may leave the box in the truck, so he'll more leg room out on the water.  I can always put my tackle below deck.  Maybe do something with the rod holder there on his left.

Nice!  I've been pondering the same thing for my little girl for summertime on the high lakes.  Looks great!

Awesome.

In glancing at your yak, I think the back of it is molded differently than mine.

Sure like the orange tackle box. Is it a Plano? Watertight?

How to do you figure, what area?

Nope and nope.

Its a Flambeau 14 Inch Dry Box #1409.  I think it fits in the well better than the Plano box would, but I could be wrong.

As for watertight, sure as long as it doesn't go upside down and dragged through the surf during a spectacular "huli" event.   The lid does have an o-ring and stays pretty dry even in rain.  I wouldn't count on it ever being watertight though.

Not entirely positive about this, but I think the Flambeau box is a tad smaller at the base.  Therefore if actually fit in the Prowler Series better than the Plano.  The Plano had to be "press fit".  But in the Trident Series they should both fit just fine.

BTW INSAYN, have you him out on the back on the water?  I think handling might be impacted quite a bit by that much weight towards the rear.  Perhaps face him backwards so the weight is more toward center?

I guess I should better know my boat. I glanced at my own before leaving for work and they're the same.

I thought my boat just had a large roughly square-shaped well, whereas yours has the lips that your tackle box snugs into neatly. Turns out mine has that, too.

I have not yet had him out in the water on the kayak.  If his weight severely hampers my groove, I'll do what you mentioned, and/or have him straddle the sonar shield facing me, and put his feet in front of mine right above the front scupper holes.  If the front arrangement works better, I can always add a few eyes up there and clip his seat in place so he has a back rest.

Do you know what model seat you used.  I am thinking that this might work well on my X-13.  I have not tried my gator hatch in front with my daughter, but I am thinking this might give her more room.

Not a clue, maybe Alkasazi can throw out a part number or brand for ya.

I think any standard seat should work for that application.   I think seats start at about $35 depending on where you get them.

it's an older-style Ocean Kayak basic seat. Bsteves is right, any sot seat should work.

Update: Finally had warm enough water for a test run with my boy in the tank well.   The T13 handled very well, and actually his weight back there lifted the front slightly and helped me to get up to a higher top speed.
