Can't wait!

Is there a decent camping option for this event or are we all crashing at your place Zee?

For those unfamiliar with WA state regs, how about a short recap of the regs for that area?

I believe the nearest campground is Kayak Point in Snohomish County. It's about a 20 minute drive. And no B... just you. :love5:

Umm, driving from Kayak Point to Picnic Point Mukilteo State Park takes a bit longer than 20 minutes. It takes about 20 minutes to get back to I-5, and then another 20 - 30 minutes (or more, depending on traffic) to Picnic Point Mukilteo State Park. The Lake Goodwin campground would be a little closer, but only by 10 - 15 minutes.

- Karl

It appears that the rangers at Picnic Point have become a little more vigilant about locking the gates and will only open at 7AM. So the location will change to Mukilteo State Park where we can launch earlier.
Thanks.

Z

Just noticed the launch change announced in a separate thread http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic,3406.msg33099.html#msg33099. I've edited this post to avoid sending folks to the wrong location.

Do we have to fish at Picnic Point ...

I'm thinking Humpy Hollow which is closer to the campground.

Nice vid B. Yeah that's the goods in that area. It can be real fast and furious and limiting can take all of an hour. 30 minutes if it's really hot.

Check in will be at PP so you can paddle to wherever you want. Humpy Hollow is right at the shipwreck about 15 min paddle north but it's hot all along that shoreline. Plus the Hollow gets ULTRA crowded so other spots tend to be funner.

Thanks for the driving update NY.

Hmm..about an hour drive from camping site to fishing location.. almost makes me want to stay at a nice inn or something in Edmonds.

For those not to familiar with this launch a cart is almost a must.  I have probably one of the smallest boats around and It took only one carry for me to decide on a cart.  On the other hand I'm sure there will be plenty of people willing to help out.  Can't wait for this one!

Why do people run the clicker when they are fighting fish...I was always told not to do that (I don't know why) but either way its annoying as hell

Nice video Brian.... 4-5 lb average?  I have never caught pinks but I never realized they were so, well, ahh, small ;D  Is this a downrigger show (to be effective)?

Yep, small but numerous and feisty.  I think the state record is like 11 lbs. From what I understand, downriggers are useful but a diver will work as well.

Right. You can even get away w/ a 5-6 oz. inline banana sinker until about mid day. If the run is on I think you could easily limit way before then.

Yeah, that's a real rookie move. Especially in Possession Sound. Clickers are dinner bells to the dogs.
