Thought that I should post some pictures, showing some fly caught nooks. Caught 4 and kept 2,one had swallowed the fly completely!

That's awesome.  It inhaled it!  I know a few years ago someone landed a 60lber on the fly on the South coast.

I've caught quite a few springers on flies but never out of a yak.

Would you mind elaborating a bit on gear and technique.

SUH-WEEEEET!!!!  Now THAT is cool.  I wish I had the patience to try that.  I light line, video, try crazy stuff ALL the time...EXCEPT for kings.

Been dreaming of it....just never had the will power to execute it.  Halibut first....then maybe a king on a fly rod!

thanks for posting!!!

Basic setup is a Intermediate slow sinking line the one that I use is the SA steamer express 400grn.blue/clear with a 3-3.5ft. 12 lb. leader. The fly is just a bead chain chart/white clouser with extra chart flash in a size 8 or a 4. Like to use a orange comet long tail in a size 8 too. Make your cast and count down till your in the mid water range or if you see fish rolling just cast near them and strip the fly back either slow long strips or fast strips, let the fish decide which way they like it. If you chasing silvers and they're on the surface go with floating line and pink popper for some real fun.

Wow, I'd be so nervous the leader would break on their teeth.  Good job!

Friggin awesome!  I have had a ten weight fly rod for a long while and looked into targeting salmon with it years ago.  Maybe I should revisit that idea.

Nice! Do you find the tippet size makes any difference? I usually try 20-pound but have had better luck with 12-14 pound but the bigger kings break off.

YES I do find that a lighter tippet makes a difference but you can get more action out the fly by tying a open non slip knot like the (rapala knot) or if going real light you can use the duncan loop which will slip when a fish hits, protecting the tippet somewhat. The big thing to remember is to always be checking your leader for nicks, rubs stretch and wear marks and anything else that does'nt look right. Every couple of cast check it and change it if it needs it. Don't wait till the next cast or it will cost you.   Most of the time the fishermen wins but sometimes the fish wins.
