Flush mounts standard on fish kayaks? for em, or against em?

On my Revo the built in flush mounts are so far behind the seat as to be utterly useless.  If I am facing forward fighting a fish my arms don't bend in the way necessary to reach behind and draw out a net or bonker.  Also the built-ins are angled to the rear so you need to be able to reach even farther back to insert or remove something from them.  The only thing I can see using them for is to support some sort of PVC framework and/or contraption.  Otherwise, worthless. 

In WA on the salt, it is one rod to each fishing license.  On freshwater lakes you can buy a second rod endorsement. 

Definitely want them.  Any rodholder you mount on the surface, in the same place, will not have the same functionality, even with rocket launchers.  Rocket launchers are very difficult to put rods in without sitting side saddle or adopting whacky yoga poses to reach back that high. I tend to use the flush mounts for the same easy access storage options for long items. Forward scotty is the best way to troll (in the PNW), imho.

If you do have them standard, make sure they are deep.  I've seen some models that just don't seem secure enough as they are on the shallow side.
