Montana is in the Northwest !

I was wondering why Montana doesn't have its own board like the rest of the northwest states have ?
I feel like our defiantly northwest state is treated like an unwanted stepchild !!  Just joking, but It would be nice to have Montana get its own board like the other northwest states have.  I am taking this boat down the Marias river this Sunday from Tiber dam to Moffit bridge. I will try to take some pics for the board.  Thanks for hearing my gripe !

Thank you, thank you , thank you.   I'll post a link to the photos that I will take this Sunday on the Marias River (weather permitting).

well, helloooo Montana....thanx for reminding us that yakkers come from all over....

I was born on a surfboard on the south side of the OB pier and used to kayak at and in the La Jolla caves when nobody ever did that.  San Diego used to be such a great place back in the day !   
Salmon Beach (Tacoma) was home for ten years and I've been in Montana for over ten years now.
When I die I don't want to be buried, just prop me up against a tree on the river bank and duct tape a fishing pole into one hand and a Sam Adams Boston Lager into the other hand.  Hang a sign on the back of the tree that says "do not disturb" !!!

Cool MT pics, Rickers!  I have family in Polson, and enjoy paddling on Flathead lake.  As soon as I get some time, I'm heading back up to traverse that thing and camp along the water trail.  Good to see some MT info in here!

hi there every one i use to kayak in la jolla when i was stationed out there for ten years good yellow tail fishing.  grew up in rollins mt up on flathead lake rite on the big lake and did lots of lake trout fishing rite in front of the house.  great place to be and to grow up.  i have family up there in montana still in hamilton and still visit the big lake.    now i live here in bremerton wa stationed here hopefully for the rest of the time in the military.  just bought i house on wye lake in port orchard will be doing lots of fishing out here really looking forward to it.  i do have a wilderness 160 kayak i got in california and really love getting out on the water.  lots of fun.  hope to get with others  on this site and start some fishing out here.  awsome pictures i have been to most of those places plus some more.  its good to know some people up from montana.

I used to kayak into the La Jolla caves before hardly anyone else used to do that.  I also lived at Salmon Beach on the Narrows , (Tacoma) for ten years. That was before they had a sewer down there and a person could literally "fish" out of the toilet !  Not Kidding ! Once I woke to the noise of a "meatball" at 4 in the morning. I pushed my wooden rowboat down the slip into the rushing current of the Tacoma Narrows and rowed  toward the racket of the birds working the surface.  It was a feeding frenzy with herring schools drifting on the incoming tide. The salmon were in full gobble mode and so were the orcas !  I made my way to the center of the action and all of a sudden my oars were pushed up and out of the oarlocks.  Two orcas came up on either side of my boat and spouted while my oar ends were on their backs.   The adrenalin rush was superb !  Gosh I wish someone would help me with my auto-biography before I forget it all !     Not shown in the photo is my doobie (legal of coarse )and Sam Adams beer in the rig still legal under Montana law for the passenger that I am enjoying on our way to the end of the road on the Teton River in North central Montana
I am holding in a toke while taking the picture ! after I took the pic I had a nice cooling swig from my ice cold Sammy !  The little birdie is my four year old Yellow sided green cheeked conure and the mutt is a female black lab / white pyraneese cross. They are buddies.

Hey Ricker----great snaps.  I just drifted (Saturday) past your old digs at Salmon Beach on an 11-foot ebb tide in the Narrows, makes for a swift ride!  Lots of big whirlpools, but only one 16.5 lb king to show for 8 hours on the in the Arima.

NW Montana is also part of the Inland NW (www.boatingtheinlandnw.com). I kind of view the Inland NW (E. WA., N. ID., NW MT) as its own state/country. No boarders exist to me in this region...
