For another easy to make effective jig don't forget the copper pipe jig. Bsteves puts the hurt on a lotta rockfish w/ these.

Here's the recipe (just downsize to your liking): http://blog.theoutdoorline.com/?tag=/island
If you're not into smelting just put some large shot or egg sinkers in the tube and pinch the end. Makes it rattle nice too.  ;)

HMMMM, I think Y'all have me figured out!  ;D I love the ghetto part of all in life. Pipe jigs, knife baits, I am going to be busy in the shop (outta the rain) for a while. Many ideas are flooding in.Thanks Zee!

Here are my two white trash table knife lures.  It was fun to make these two.  The second one (in the middle) I made saved time by not grinding the nose.  I tried to avoid grinding all together but couldn't get a split ring to seat through the tail.  No Pabst were injured in this incident...

Nice work on the table knives.  Better than playing with lead.

The nicest one just weighed in at 4 ounces.  Not too bad since I would be happy with 3.  The brand is Oneida tableware.  I found 11 of them in the bin.  My wife thinks I am now a total fishnerd by borrowing her food scale.  Oh well, I'm still going to keep on keeping on!  I bought the sticker stuff and Octopus hooks at Sportsmans.

Add a hoochie to the hook and I'd bite it.   ;D

Nice work!

I'm gonna do that for sure when I get the right tools. That seems like the perfect weight on the high end of things and you could make them smaller from that.

A tip for the knife jig makers, when searching for knives at thrift shops bring a magnet along to tell which are stainless steel. Most stainless will stick to the magnet while other (rust prone) alloys won't.

Not all stainless composition is magnetic.

Notice I wrote "most" stainless. Read brother read.  ;) SS is inherintly magnetic but it all depends how much nickel is added.
