Yup...new plankton guy having the audacity to start a new thread...but interested in how many stillwater kayak flyfishers use hand paddles for more subtle kayak manuevering...without putting down the rod?  You know...rather than awkwardly flailing around with the end of a 240 cm paddle......you don't catch many fish on a fly with the rod out of your hands sitting in a rod holder.

Paah leeeze! That's not audacity, that's what your supposed to do!
This, unlike many other forums, is a particularly easy crowd to get along with. (Well, except for Zee)
;D

Before I started pedaling instead of paddling, I used an over sized wooden ping pong paddle (sqwash paddle?) to make adjustments in position. Its easier to use than the regular paddle for small changes and it'll get you home in a push. It also doubles as the wood shampoo (fish whacker) when you use it on edge.

We also had a good time poking fun at this doohickey a while back. But I don't know if anybody actually tried it (or at least fessed up) http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic,3838.msg37854.html#msg37854

This works well too....and doubles as an emergency paddle...pretty sturdy, and solidly telescopes out if necessary.  Not bad for $17 at Cabelas.

I like that paddle especially if it had to become a backup should I loose my main paddle.  When extended out I would think it could still get me moving.

I used to think that Bigfoot might exist. Then I saw the reality shows where they are looking for them.  Now I am certain they don't

Makes a fairly decent rudder for the Hobie as well (if your cable broke and you forgot your paddle at home) ::) damhik

I'm also thinking I can club fish with it. Saw it at Walmart for ~$15.
