Obviously messed up Math.  This Hawaii sun is getting to me.  Yup, Coos Bay is in the lead.

And yup, that's what I was thinking about Aug 23-24 ... too soon before Moutcha.  May weather too iffy to plan something?  I dunno, you tell me.  Perhaps June?

-Allen

Dang, I wish the sun was getting to me, brrrr. May or June should have more nice days then bad. As with any ocean fishing getting on the water early is the key, since the wind almost always comes up after noon. If it's really calm as far as swell a little wind won't really cause too much trouble though.

Maybe keep Aug dates as an alternative for those of us not going to Moutcha?

Does June or September have consistently better weather down there?  Seems to me that there are some other opportunities in May/June that perhaps we'd like to spend time on (sturgeon, bass up in the shallows, etc.) that we can wait until Sept for the lings/rockfish which should be on the chew all summer long.  What do you think?

Yep, May-September and even into October are usually the best months, for weather. I would also like to target some Sturgeon in May-June. Maybe July or September would be good months to plan for?

A tournament in Coosbay this summer is a great idea.  I think we should plan a weekend this summer and set a date.

July thru Sept are the best months for weather down here.  If we get a date set we can reserve a group campsite at Bastendorff Beach Campground (Coos County).  Bastendorff Beach is about 1 1/2 miles from Sunset Bay.  Sunset State Campground is walking distance but I doubt we can reserve anything now at Sunset for summer.  Very popular place.

Bastendorff has a real nice campground.  Just a thought.

And, that's where the jetty beachbreak is located.  Mmmm Mmmm!  Morning fishing and evening surfing!  Doesn't get any better than that.

Coos Bay is in the lead with 57.1% of the vote, but more than twice the next locale.  If you want to have a say, get your vote in.  I'll close voting by the end of the week.

Location is looking pretty much decided. As far as time June is looking best for me. How about the weekend of the 21st? Is that too early as far as weather is concerned? I Maybe.. maaaaaybe be able to pull the first week of July. I can only really do one big trip a month and so far July, Aug, Sept, Oct are all full. And then I have that Baja trip I'm supposed to do... So many places to go, so little time.... and so much WAF to build! :angel10:

Arggh ... June is going to be really really tough for me.  I just got a super aggressive project thrown on my lap.  And I have to get everything done for sure by end of June ... no exceptions.

I'll be in Alaska  June 28 - July 7
I'll be back in Alaska July 19-27.
Then to the Queen Charlottes August 9-17.
Then Moutcha on August 29 to September 2.

How's that for a busy fishing summer?

And yup, the weekends between those trips need to be set aside for the girlfriend.
