How about an area to download gps waypoints, maps or other info.  For instance I have all the launching  points for Lake Washington, Lake Union, Lake Sammish etc on my GPS.  I'm sure someone else out there might like that.  You might want to make this a member only area though.

It's a good thought.  And it would be great to share info such as this.

Let me throw this out for feedback from you all.  What constitutes a member?  On other sites, there are certain "priviledes" that are "unlocked" after reaching certain posting milestone.  It's hard for me to do that right now as we are so new.  On other sites, members pay.  Don't worry, I won't ask anyone here to pay.   So ... what do you think?

Yes, post-to-play sounds kind of funny to me.  And again it works better with bigger forums.  But it sounds better than pay-to-play.  Too much red tape makes my job harder.   :'(

I'm just pointing out how I've seen it done on some other sites.  Personally I don't like to restrict the flow of information.  I do like to encourage that people give to the site as much as they get from it.  And that works best when information is free flowing.

I agree with you there Pole2. I think the honor system (or Aloha system ;D) is the best way to go. If you want to try to keep people from abusing it you could make some guidelines before they get to the page that actually had all the downloads.
