Mark, I think you can change your vote (remove vote and then revote).  Then again maybe that's one of those moderator things.

Brian

I don't want to change my vote.  I just said I'd probably be able to make it.

Although I spent many a SoCal day surfing in a yak, this will be my first time fishing in the big pond. Besides avoiding the Tax Man, any recommendations or suggestions to help me not look like a total goober out there?

Thanks,
Jay

The Tax Man is hard to avoid, you just hope it's not your day have your taxes collected. And the "JAWS" theme stops playing in yer head after you start catching fish..

the only goober thing you could do is fall off your Yak, other then that, just tie on a jig, drop it to the bottom, jig up and down, catch fish....And have fun.
See ya on the water..

I believe GW attacks on kayakers are very rare north of...umm... Florence OR  ;)
IMO, I worry much more about weather changes and PBers whose brains turn to mush at the sight of guys in little boats on the big ocean. Roy's advice is sound- have fun.

Not sure how the surf will be where we're gonna have this but IMO the hardest part of taking on the big blue is the launch and landing. Even smaller waves can flip you and your gear outta the yak and that's pretty much the easiest way to look like a goober. :icon_blackeye: Luckily that will most likely be a time where there will be other people w/ experience around who can guide you out/in with some good words of advice. Other than that... just don't blow chunks!! :puke:

... or laugh at you!!  You know ... that one laugh that only guys can do to each other.  The one that somehow makes you get up and do it over and over again until you get it right.  The one you only wants to hear the first time, if at all, because each successive time it pokes a shark stick right into you ego and makes you feel less manly.  The laugh that makes you automatically say, "uhhhh ... I meant to do that", or "Did you see that? Bet you can't cartwheel as many times as I did".  Make 'em jealous, yeah, that's it!!!

I might chuckle a bit ... but you know, there are guys that swear by that method, so to each his own.

I thought it looked like the 20-21.  I guess it all depends on how one interprets the "don't cares".   :D.

I also just remembered that the 13-14 is the girlfriend birthday weekend.  You don't want the girlfriend mad at all of you for "making" me go fish a derby on the 13-14, do you?

old saying in the tight knit community i was a part of very briefly; " if you die first, we're splitting up your gear". ???

seriously, if that works for you, who am i to argue? hey, i might even learn something by watching since i've never been in the surf on a yak...don't think a 960 ft. 60K ton RORO counts..

Hey Allen,

If you need me to change my vote to make it official I will.  I'd hate for you to be in the dog house.   ;D

Gee thanks.  Mighty kind of you.

I think we're probably "safe" in just calling it the 20-21.

So who wants to help out?
