Seriously?!? A kayaker took the overall top prize?  That's beyond awesome.  Get ready for a bunch of converts.

Thanks Guys!

I tried to post a report but it timed out.  Don't think it liked the photos.  Tried to upload them directly from my phone as attachments but it didn't work.  Any tips?  Lost the whole report.

I'll try again tonight.

Congrats snopro!  Way to represent!

For long reports I compose it on a google doc so it won't be lost, then copy and paste it here when it's done.  Here's a thread on how to upload pics for reports: http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=7004.0

Here's the quick and dirty.

First off, thanks to CCA and Fisherman's for throwing this event and everyone who competed.

Fish was 41" and 24lbs dressed out.  When CCA posts the weigh in photos I'll link to them, but for now here's the classic AOTY shot.

Fished the Columbia with a prawn spinner design I've been playing with.  Ran a small chunk of sardine as a backpack on the prawn.  Slathered the whole thing with pro cure sardine.

The action took place trolling up hill, on the downstream side of a shelf. Depths went from 50' to 30'.

I had a strong bump with no hook up so I decided to leave it alone.  Ten seconds later another hard bump and I thought the pawn was gone for sure, so I should reel up and rebait.  I made three quick revolutions of the grip and slam. The king chased it down as it was rising and inhaled it.

The initial run was excellent.  One of those where it starts fast and picks up speed.  Got to the point we've all experienced where you make the decision to chase down the fish to slow the line exiting from the spool.  Probably 75 yards zipped off before I started getting some back.

Prize package was very nice.  Tee shirt, hoodie, hat, subscriptions to STS and NW Sportsman.  A custom wrapped  North Fork Composites 11' steelhead bobber rod. Oh yeah......7 Benjamins!

Definitely going to do it again next year, but I want to enter a team. Entry fee is a little higher, but would love to show the power boaters what a team of yakers can do.  Anyone interested?

It would make a great lead ball sack.  Can't have those things rolling around on their own.
