Hey everyone! Clearly the salmon season has been pretty awesome so far this year. I'll be doing another clinic on the 10th at the Next Adventure Paddle Sports Center. So if you're still having trouble getting those marks on your tag come down and ask some questions! Hope to see you there!

If you haven't been to one of these yet.... it's worth the trip to Next Adventure for Jeff's secret herring brining technique alone.

Sweet, are you going to talk about any up river techniques or are you focusing on estuaries?

Yes, I'm going to try and spend more time on up river techniques this time than I did last time since the push is making its way up.  However, I still hope for it to be about 50/50.

I love the secret brine. It is money! I may have to go again and learn some upriver techniques.

Awesome - hoping/planning on attending.  August was crazy busy, hoping to get some chances to get out and do some fishing in September.  One note, found that none of the prior clinics covered the topic of "fall salmon fishing from your garage," which is a good thing, but hasn't helped me any!!!

Thanks,
Sam

Yes it did!   Works well for both Chinook and coho ;D

I would HIGHLY recommend this clinic to anyone interested in learning this amazing fishery we have in our backyards. Jeff kills a lot of fish this time of year and he's willing to share tips with you. Jeff also puts on killer clinics so go check it out Sept 10 at Next Adventure Paddle Center.

I am hoping to make it to this clinic.  Is there a signup or do we just show up?
The two best times to fish is when it’s raining and when it ain’t. -Patrick McManus

Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

Just show up. I would like to get a feel for how many people are going to come though so please post up if you plan to come.

Can you characterize the mix of new stuff vs. refresher on the August clinic ?

Thx

I am going to try and spend a few more minutes on rigging a herring or prawn for trolling and talk about wobblers a bit more but for the most part it should be pretty similar.

I couldn't attend the last one but I've got this one on the calendar.  Looking forward to it.

When you say "pretty similar", do you mean that there will still be free beer ?

Also, a topic I am very interested in is using the kayak as a drift boat on...well, the usual suspect rivers (Clack/Sandy/Wilson/Nehalem/etc.). It sure would be nice if someone produced a map of said rivers showing where NOT to try to go in a SOT. But that is only on topic from the point of view as a salmon fishing option. That, and an extended anchoring clinic would be really interesting to me, anyway.
