I think I'm planning on hitting the Pelican Brew Pub on Friday night after I set up camp, but hopefully we can all get together for a potluck at one of the two campgrounds on Saturday night after fishing?

I may either smoke up some ribs this weekend and reheat them for the potluck or I might dust off my dutch oven and make some peach cobbler.  Maybe I'll do both.

What is everyone else bringing?

BTW, does any one have a turkey fryer they can bring?  It would be nice to fry up some of our fresh fish (and whatever else you'd like to see cooked in a couple gallons of hot oil.)

If you take your Dutch oven, do all your deep frying in that.  Holds the temperature MUCHO better.  Then when you need a desert/breakfast, just make "Easy Donuts".

Pillsbury buttermilk biscuits in the tube... Cut the Donut hole with a water bottle cap and deep fry all parts at 360º - 375º Peanut oil.   Let cool, and dip in simple powdered sugar icing, or cinnimon & sugar.

They come out like Krispy Kreme donuts.  ;D

Sounds like a plan B. Them ribs were killer at Elk and wouldn't mind another sampling. ;D I can make some Yakisoba (Japanese chow mein) for the potluck. I also did study CheckE's fish fry technique so have some confidence in making a good version of it.

I can do a good ChuckE fry daddy imitation for sure.  I've manned the fryer at a few  NWKA events.   I will bring the goods to do so.  I don't have a turkey fryer but can make the propane stove work.

Thanks Wali,  I might do that if no one else can bring one.

I mentioned on another post that I'd bring some chips, salsa, and some fire wood.  No bonfire, but enough to help stoke the coals  Looking forward to being there - amb

Boston Baked Beans are all cooked and ready to reheat. I sincerely hope we will have plenty of other treats to compliment the meal. This was my first attempt at this recipe, but thanks to the Frugal Gourmet, they came out very tasty. I had some for dinner tonight, and the gaseous element still hasn't made an appearance!

By the way, the ocean conditions today here in Florence were looking very good. While at the beach this morning with the dogs, the weather was the best that it has been in months. No wind!, and the ocean was pretty flat. I talked to a friend who fished Sunset today, and the conditions down there were the same. He caught 4 big blacks, and a nice ling. Roy, talk to Wayne. He knows the spot!

you can fish for silvers just inside the jetties though, line of sight from the end of each jettie. Not sure about about other places but i guess theres been some nice ones caught inside the coos bay jetties(mooching). Need to drag my butt out there and try to rack up a AOTY Coho.
See ya on the water..
