Stripped sprocket on V2 Mirage Drive

The good news is I finally bought my first kayak!  It's a 2016 outback that was a demo and came with turbo fins.  I've never used a mirage drive before, so when I launched the kayak, 30 minutes after purchasing it,  I was surprised to feel knocking when I put any moderate pressure on the drive.  When I brought it home and did some research, I came to find that one of the sprockets that the chain goes on was stripped!  There's like one or two knobs still barely grabbing so slow pedaling it would be fine but otherwise the chain would essentially slip.

I wanted to know if changing out the sprocket is hard to do?  It appears it's only $20 but I don't know how hard it is to replace.

perhaps a minor detail but a 2016 Outback should have come with a GT drive, right?   this sounds like a warranty issue with Hobie...

Being a demo boat I'm wondering if they gave you an older drive and kept the newer one? Not sure where you got it but that's where I'd start first.

Ok as an update I ordered a new sprocket($24), installed it while also greasing all the bearings and it turned out to be a good exercise in knowing my mirage drive.
At least I know how to disassemble the drive and how to grease it.  I haven't got to take it out on the water again but I'm excited to see how it does now!
