I'd be interested in a clam/crabbing/perch trip at Netarts.  Throw out a few dates Paddler and I'll how to make a few.

After checking out the tide book, it looks like this might be the best option.  There are better tide days but they fall on weekdays so they would be out for most, I assume. Other weekends are attached to the Thanksgiving day holiday or the low tide occurs at night  :P.

The weekend that looks the best would be DEC 6 th and 7th.    High tide in the morning (6:30).. do some crabbing/fishing , then as the tide drops to low around 1 pm or so hit the clam beds. while the pots soak.

If folks are interested I will post more info on the bay/gear/etc.
I have TONS of crab bait that all would be welcome to use.

I was thinking of doing the Willy sturgeon December Event the weekend of 6th to coincide a friends visit.  I guess there's no reason we can't do both.

No need to cram to much into one weekend.  The crabbing can be moved to another more suitable weekend if needed.  I am often at the beach so I am flexible.  Will be down this weekend and would give crabbing a shot if not for the influx of fresh water in the bay.

Regarding the PDX sturgeon fishing monthly event for December.  I'm thinking the weekend of Dec 6th and 7th is the best for me.   Does anyone have a preference between Saturday the 6th or Sunday the 7th?

I can make either day.  Say when and where.

As for monthly events.  Great ideas.  I'll add Multnomah Channel for springers.  The flats around Astoria for summer sturgeon.  And one of my favorites in my short kayak fishing career, May for lingcod off of Sucia island in the San Juans.  I've pulled some hogs out of there.

Is kayak fishing considered therapy?  I need to justify the increase in sick days somehow now that I've found this site.

Given that Jay is the only one that spoke up (for Sunday) and I know that Spot usually has Sunday's but not Saturday's free.  I'm going to call it for Sunday.  Of course my wife has yoga on Sunday mornings now.  I'll have to check the tides, but I might have to opt for a late start.  I'll post it on the official monthly event listing.

I can make Sunday.  And a suggestion for getting out of obligations...we'll call it the NWKA ornament exchange.  That's what we do for the December poker game.  Its hard for anyone to argue with that.  But if that doesn't work, a late start is just the ticket for a Sunday.

Just because I might start late, doesn't mean everyone has too.    Right now I'm thinking Cathedral park launch, but I'm up for other options as the boat ramp there can be a zoo on weekends.

Gilbert boat ramp might be another option...

For those of us with no sturgeon experience, any specific gear recommendations?

Gilbert is an option, but it takes forever to drive the length of Sauvie Island.   Other options would include Swan Island Boat Ramp, Sellwood Riverfront Park, or George Rogers Park.

December 7th is a day off for me so I'll sure try to make it.  Good motivation to finish the anchor system.  What lb line do you use for these dino's?
