I turned on CNN this morning and saw some footage of the hurricane down on the Texas coast. Holy  crap---130 mph sustained winds with stronger gusts. And the flooding that is threatening the area for a long time to come will be incredible. Southeast Texas is very flat and all the rain expected will not go away easily. And they are gonna' get a lot of rain---even by PNW standards.
Upnorthtex---our thoughts are with you and I/we hope you weather this storm. I saw some video from Rockport and it didn't look good . Batten down the hatches. I know you are a survivor and an old(with full respect) hand in tough situations , but Mother Nature doesn't care. she can still destroy a lot we hold dear. I pray that your damages are minimal.
Take care buddy . If we can help let us know . You are not alone.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

We've got a few more down there, too. I think Gordon is in San Antonio, which didn't get messed with too badly according to family there, but YessNoo, Mark, I think still works for United at Houston /Hobby and lives in the lower lying areas. Have not been cable to contact him since just after th storm started, so not sure if he's ok, trapped or what

Update: Yesnoo lives in Seabrook, which is pretty much right on the initial landing point of Harvey. Have reached out to him via phone and email, still waiting a response.
