Morning,

OK here's the deal;
The liability problem has been fixed, we are now covered by insurance for our events thru the KASA umbrella.

The registration of KASA as a charitable, not for profit organization has been completed and is now official.

Their resolving of those two problems has opened the doors for us in a lot of ways when planning and organizing events. We'd loosely discussed this in open forum several months ago as they were each tackled and announced by our associates in KASA. Now when we go to potential sponsors and ask for donations , they get a nice tax write off or write down, and our Heroes get nice gear for their use during the trip. Some they will get to keep, such as waterproof disposable cameras, Some they just get to use but we keep, such as tackle, rods & reels, PFD's etc. and we use again on the next outing.

The liability? I've read the coverage summation and we are well and nicely covered while setting up, traveling to and from and during the event. There's more to it of course but  we can lay our concerns aside and get moving forward for our 1st event in the spring.

Speaking of events , planning and the spring;

As we all know by now, Allen is moving south to tackle more corporate responsibilities in his real world job. We all wish him well and many returns to our area for fishing and camaraderie.

Please Do Not count Allen out on his involvement in H.O.W. while he's down south unless he passes the reigns personally. I've already been asked in private by our KASA contact and roving NWKA member about whom Allen had named to succeed him. To my knowledge this is a non starter issue. Allen will remain in that position until he says " No Mas".

Also, I need help. We need a 2nd MAMC Coordinator. I work for a major defense contractor and right now my employer has plans for me to be traveling from now until next August to places like Germany, Colo., Georgia, Tex., and Hawaii. I wont be passing the baton completely off to whom ever steps up, as I intend to stay active in this. My big mouth and exuberance got us involved, so I need to stay in it as much as possible. I will share and forward all the information I've received from Jim D. and the other KASA H.O.W. guys with whomever steps up. I've offered to share before and only had one member step up, and he can tell you how much there is to accomplish for each event, just from what he's read.

Not only will you get all the information I have regarding setting up and running events, but I'll put all my local contacts info into a word document and send that along too. I'm talking people like chamber of commerce members from the town of Castle Rock, tackle shop owners willing to donate, Head Park Ranger contact info etc. yep, When I did scouting trips I didn't just look at launch sites. I went into communities and talked to people too. The interest and support in our small communities and businesses is there, we just have to tap it.

As a Coordinator, there's a lot to do. So take your time weighing your decision to step up and help. It's going to be a lot of responsibility but also a lot of fun and potentially very rewarding.

If you are interested, please let Allen and myself know via email or pm here. If you check my profile, you'll see I'm not all that hard to reach, I put a lot of contact data in there. and if you check past posts of mine in this thread you'll find my cell number. It's with me 24/7.

Guys, we really need help to make this work. Think it over, and also mention it to other members whom you think might be interested, but don't have access to this thread.

Rich.

< Partially repeated from previous post>

Ladies and Gentlemen, our participation in the Heroes On the Water program is in danger of being lost.

 I need help. We need a 2nd, or 3rd,  MAMC [ Madigan Army Medical Center] Coordinator. I work for a major defense contractor and right now my employer has plans for me to be traveling from now until next August to places like Germany, Colo., Georgia, Tex., and Hawaii  SO I CAN"T DO THIS. But, I wont be passing the baton completely off to whom ever steps up, as I intend to stay active in this. My big mouth and exuberance got us involved, so I need to stay in it as much as possible. I will share and forward all the information I've received from Jim D. and the other KASA H.O.W. guys with whomever steps up.

Guys, we really need help to make this work.

Rich.

UPDATE: Danita Henderson @ the Warrior Transition Brigade on Fort Lewis has offered her services in an almost carte blanche capacity to get this years program started and running. She cares deeply about these wounded soldiers and after spending time with them, you'll understand why..

I've been asked by Mr. Jim Dolan of KASA / H.O.W. if we can support Danita with Yaks and other gear. Can WE?  KASA / H.O.W. would much rather work with us, NWKA, than to hand this program over to any other club or group in the area, since polepole did such a fantastic job presenting and representing at the initial meeting last year. They have that much trust in us.

I am asking from my knees for a volunteer, or two, who live within the Tacoma / Fort Lewis / MacChord AFB / Oly / Seattle metro areas. If you live outside that area but want to do this, that's fine too. I was thinking about making it an easy drive for you, the volunteer.

If you feel you can carry the ball on this, please contact either me or polepole ASAP so we can get you into contact with all the people you need to deal with and up to speed on what you need to do.

Begging for help,
Rich

I wish I could help you on this level, Rich.  It's just not in the cards for me.  I am willing to help at an actual event with the fishing, setups, gear, an old tandem sot yak, ferrying gear and beer, etc.  Don't hesitate to reach me if you can use this level of help.

Ok, y'all had your chance.

Allen, please find someone else to run with this. I won't be around to do so.

Happy New Year..

Been talking to some of our HoW brethren in Texas.

txredfish sent this to us via their new newsletter mailings. i asked permission to share and he graciously gave it.  his words were " the more people who know about this, the better."
