FYI Kokatat is coming out with a new line of dry wear that's been designed and tested by kayak fishermen. They've got some nice features that make them pretty awesome and worth the investment for us. They are set to be on sale in January '09. They are the: Super Nova Angler paddling suit, Tempest Jacket, Tempest Pant, and the launch socks.

How does one get on the product testing team???  ;D

Any idea of new features?  Price?  I'd really like to talk to Santa about an early birthday present...

I do wear Kokotat, but none of these.  I use their full Goretex drysuit.  It's great ... as long as I remember to zip the relief zipper.   ;)

For the cost difference, I think I'll try the Tropos version first and see how long it lasts.

What Pole uses is all Gore and all awesome. Quality suit. I swear you could go into space with that thing!

The Super Nova Angler and Tempest jacket/pant are more reinforced versions of the regular suits and use Tropos 3 fabric (3 layer). They especially took time to reinforce the lower body areas like the seat legs and lap for abrasion and hook resistance. They also have a cool feature where they put a cover over the relief zipper to minimize snags while you work on gear in your lap. Man, that sounds like some funky innuendo eh? ;D Not sure on prices.

T3 SuperNova Angler Paddling Suit - $599
Tempest Jacket - $190
T3 Tempest Pant w/ Socks - $159
T3 Launch Sock - $58

I'm curious to see how the 3-layer Tropos works. I much prefer the breathability of Gore-Tex over the single-layer Tropos suit I have now, but they don't offer the Gore suits with the neoprene neck gasket.

Brian, can you upgrade (or downgrade?) the neck gasket on a Goretex suit to neoprene?  That's an options I'd consider.  But I just replaced my neck gasket this summer so will have to wait until it blows out again.   ;)

The Tempest Jacket and pant look like a great deal. The SuperNova doesn't look like a bad deal either. Looks like they did their homework on this one... us yakfishermen are cheap bastards!! :D

Kokatat won't do it, but Rainey Pass should be able to:

http://rainypass.com

They're an authorized Gore-Tex repair shop, and are located in Seattle. I've never used them personally, but have heard nothing but good from people who have.

Thanks.  I suppose I should just ask at Kayak Academy where I bought the drysuit in the first place, and where I went to have the latex neck replaced.

Wow, that's over a $100 increase from the current SuperNova

Just throwing this out there, because it hurts to spend more on a dry suit than my wedding/funeral/hopefully never business suit, but we rent kokatat goretex dry suits at alder creek, along with NRS dry suits and wetsuits.

Also, you can rent everything except a rod and rod holder at our shop.

I could set up a special discount for NWKA, but as it is now I think it's $30 a day for non goretex, $50 for g-tex.

also, we have some nrs dry suits that were lightly used for a week to shoot the movie "Without a Paddle 2".....a straight to DVD masterpiece. these suits are going for $300 and I think there are just a few XL's left.

I think I could get NWKA 20% off new dry suits we have in stock, but you would need to contact me directly @ jself76@comcast.net. I'm not sure I could discount special orders though.

you could also order online and we'd ship to you for free. Just contact me for the discount if interested. http://www.aldercreek.com

not only are dry suits great for cold immersion protection, but they keep the flesh eating bacteria of the Willamette off everything but your hands and head!
