I am David, I am a Blacksmith by trade. 43 year old. I was finally able to buy a solid fishing kayak. I am pursuing bass fishing. I have causally fished for them in the past but I would like to be able to figure out were they are during ever season and weather condition. So far so good.

I have built a solid fishing kayak. Started with an Old Town Topwater PDL. Here is the upgrades I have made so far:

Anchor wizard with custom side mount.
boondocks groovy landing gear.
Wired in LED cabin lights.
Front LED spot light.
Red and green navigation lights.
3 switch gang box with volt meter and USB Port.
Custom milk crate with 2 compartments and 3 slot rod holder.
4 slot tackle compartment for Plano 3705 boxes that fits under the seat.
Raymarine Axiom 9 fish finder rx-100 transducer.
 2 zooka 2 rod holders.
Few other small modifications to make my life a little more comfortable.

I am really enjoying fishing from a kayak, it has been more then I had originally thought.

Welcome to NWKA David.  Nice setup on your yak.  I am also a newbie to the forum and find great advice here on offshore fishing.  Really cool that you are a blacksmith.  I imagine you get to create some really neat stuff!

Welcome to the group. Nice Old Town!!! You live in some great bass country. I've had some good days on Long Lake and Newman but its def worth a drive over to CDA for world class Smallie fishing.

David, how do you like your Boonedox?  Your kayak is pretty loaded so I wanted an opinion on their performance.  Been considering one for my Hobie.
