Just got some intel from a friend whose son-in-law and two friends were out on the Kenai River at the crack of dawn Tuesday 8/10 and they limited with two silvers each in two hours. Since we are still in the NO BAIT and Single Hook artificial only emergency order through August 15th, they were just anchored up running K-15 kwikfish off the back of the boat in the current. Fishing the lower end below Eagle Rock. So there should be a good opportunity for some silver action, perhaps down in tidewater on the incoming for kayakers. Free launching at city dock now too. High tides will be moving into mid to late mornings as the week continues through the weekend. And we will be moving into the neap tides coming off the smaller set of minus tides.

The Wall of Sockeye continues to plug the Kenai. As of Tuesday's sockeye sonar count there have been 1,855,552 reds through the counter and the run size projection is now between 2.2 million and 2.4 million before the caboose passes my back door. Still pumping over 50,000 a day up the river. BTW the sport angler sockeye limit was raised to SIX per day and 12 in possession now.

Seward Silver Salmon Derby kicks off August 14 (Sat.) thru August 22nd. Some silvers have made it to the head of the bay around town but its still early for any big concentrations. Launching at Lowell Point state rec site beach for kayakers will present more opportunities for silvers and there should be some pinks returning to Tonsina Creek just a little ways further towards the bay mouth.

My Scotty Lake Troll DR is in the PO.  :D  Time to do a mail run and then some rigging on the yak.

Good Luck.
