I was fishing on Flathead Lake today and caught a 33" lake trout.  I was about to release it when I saw that its adipose fin had been clipped, which means that it was a tagged fish worth from $100 to $10,000 as part of the Mack Days fishing event. So I kept it.  At the Mack Days headquarters Cindy Benson checked the number, and the fish was tagged in 2013, so it's worth $100.  The big dollar tags are on fish tagged this year; fish tagged in prior years are all worth $100.  The fish was 826 mm long (32.5") in 2013, and is 844 mm long (33.2") now, but it has probably gotten thicker and heavier in the last 9 years. It's a female and contains a lot of roe, so I'll make a batch of caviar.

Nice!  Not only did you get a monster, you also got paid for it.  Sign me up!

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain
