They finally came out with K.S. vac-pac bags! Same quality as the food-saver bags. Regular price $25, sale price $20.

No more $34 bags on sale for $28.

Their backroom handshake deal for supplying their shitty vac-packers must have expired.

Bought an Avid Amor chamber vacuum sealer last year. Bags are stupid cheap like 10cent per bag. Far superior seal as well. Recommend it if you’re looking for an upgrade… figured it’d pay for itself with bags alone.

I bought a pack of those last spring. I have found three bags that failed already in my freezer this summer. Maybe my sealer is getting old. Maybe  the bags aren't very good.  The only time I had failures before was when I bought some cheap brand .I never had a problem with the food saver brand.

I tried the Costco version of the bags. Massive disappointment. 3 out of 5 were failing. Took them back and got the real ones. Have used 25 and one bad bag. Also, I have much better luck with the rolls than the pre but bags.

Man I've been using off brand Amazon bags for the last 3 or 4 years and have had zero issues. Just pulled some chicken from the depths of the freezer that have been in there at least two years with no issue from a vac seal perspective. I guess YMMV or I don't catch enough fish to sit on them long enough to see a failure  ;D

No issues once they are sealed! I was having a huge portion of the bags not get a seal at all.  Had a weak moment and broke down and ordered a chamber unit Thanks @workhard

Those chamber sealers look badass.

Until I pony up for one of those, I typically run the 'seal' component of my 30 dollar unit 2-4 times when I think there may be a lot of liquid or scales impeding the seal. If I'm super unsure, I'll then seal again a cm or two above the first seal.

It's totally worth it. Blew up at least three food savers over the years, the last straw was trying to vacuum seal eulachon and all their various liquids. Great for sous vide, marinating meats, liquids, and of course fish. For 329$ (369$ now) it's paid for itself in a year, used over 150 vacuum seal bags which cost me all of $30.

I splurged for a VacMaster Chamber Vacuum Sealer a year ago.  I really like it compared to my old vacuum sealer.  Bags are so much cheaper.  However, the upfront costs (and the weight) is kinda high.....  Used it this week to portion out a double batch of soup for the freezer.

My Vacmaster Chamber Sealer has been going strong for nearly 10 years.  At 4 cents a bag for 8x12" and 9 cents for 11x14 it will pay for itself in a couple of years over a regular non chamber vacuum packer. I have run over a thousand bags through mine already.  My wife gave me soooo much crap about it when I bought it.  A week later she said it was a brilliant purchase. She uses it all the time now.
