Sounds like with the improved forecast there will be some of us out of Fogarty and probably Depoe as well.

I saw on a different site that the docks were all out of the water in Depoe Bay which could make it a $hitshow for the power boats.

If tomorrow’s like today get ready to catch loads of lingcod nothing huge, no blacks total for today……two nice cabbies one small China so many lingcod I lost count had a couple doubles even. Came in with my two lings, great to be on water again. Docks are out, didn’t deter too many boats as ramp was full by 830, my launch time, was in no hurry. Nice out there, tomorrow’s weather and ocean suppose to be even better. For those that make it to depoe or fogarty good luck !! Be safe!!!

Never launched at Fogarty, but seems like a good day to give it a try.  Looks protected from straigh on waves from Google Earth.  Any pointers on launch and direction to fish structure would be appreciated.

So, yes, pretty protected launch at most tide levels. You are behind the rocks from direct waves.
So when you launch you will see the shallow water kelp beads straight west. You go to the NW and you will see the deeper water. You will see the shallow rocks to the north then you turn more SW to west until away from all of the shallow water. If you comw to.orrow morning there will be a number of us there to assist in the path. A little harder to see coming back at 1st.

Once outside there is lots of good fishing in most directions. The Government point reef extends way out gradually getting deeper as it goes NW.

The beach is fairly steep, so much different than PC. Probably best to watch a few people launch.

Thanks for all the great info.  Wheels aren't too skinny, but not beach wheels.  Just my diy set are are ready to retire soon.  What time are others planning to launch?

Outside Sunset Bay today had lots of15-18" rockfish and a bunch of 23-25" ling.  Went the direction towards the harbor, away from Simpson reef with a couple guys that passed me while I was fishing inside the bay.  Little bumpy, you guys should have a great day tomorrow

Okay, there must have been someone that caught some fish and are willing to share some photo and/or a story.  It is the least you can do for those of us not able to get there.

Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

Such a beautiful day!
I was with the Fogarty group of guys.
I ended up catching 10 lings. 4 definitely legal, the rest bareling or underling. Saw lots of big schools of rockfish,  but were very tight lipped. Only brought home 3 blacks.
Caught 3 small Chinas, a beautiful small copper, and my first ever yellowtail rock fish, all released. Had my first ever hitchhiker ling, but he let go 15 feet or so under the boat.
Overall a really fun day, and from what I could tell,  everyone did pretty good, if not really good. Thanks for the great company everyone!

Today will be in the Top 3 of the flattest days of the year. Total lake. 15-20 ft of visibility. Not much current. The lack of current made the rockfish bite a bit of a grind. Huge schools of suspended rockfish out there, but you had to work for the bites. While other guys were scoring big fish early, I was struggling. Released some 25-30 inch lings, but I wanted something bigger. Cameron/SD2OR gifted me a "special bait" that didn't take long to get chomped. Up comes a 42 inch ling, one of my longest. Not long later, my live blue rockfish gets eaten by a 38 incher.

Looks like meat's back on the menu boys!

I was one of the later people to launch. About 845. The alternator went out in my truck on the drive over. Knowing I had car troubles waiting in the parking lot, I wanted to bonk some fish fast. I headed straight out for deep water. The schools of Black Rockfish were thick and hungry for my squid teaser from Pitbull Tackle. Some of you may have got some of these in your AOTY prize packs last year. I coyldn't get my big Lancer Jig to the bottom without a rockfish inhaling the teaser I had above it. After 3 drops, 5 minutes, 3 black rockfish in the bag, I took the teaser off and sent the Lancer down to find a Lingcod. Boom, nice Ling. Reset, boom hammered by something really heavy. Thought for sure this was my 40 inch Ling. Nope, big cabby. Probably the biggest I have had on my kayak. Send it back, drop again. Another decent Ling.i let him ride beside the kayak for a minute while I debate releasing him. Then I think of my broke truck. Bonk, done with Lings. Put a teaser above a flat fall jig. 2 drops and done, headed for the beach. Now 10:45. I literallt did 10 drops and had my limit.
What a beautiful day!

What a day out of Forarty.  Never launched there before.  Great spot.  I'm new enough at this style of fishing that it's pretty easy to get some PB size fish, but did not expect what yesterday brought.  After a few black rocks, I netted 32" and a 36" Ling.  Both PB's in that order and only my second time catching ling.  Had a nice group of other kayakers to follow out to the sweet spots.  Clearly was  great day on the water.  Looking forward to next time!
