Kayaking Snohomish river delta

I'm thinking about a trip to the Snohomish river delta -- probably launch somewhere around Everett and head north. Wondering if anyone has done this before and has any advice for conditions to avoid -- tides, wind direction, etc.

Given the shallow nature of the delta I'd probably take my Adventure and do a lot of paddling.

Haven't done a whole lot of delta paddling so would appreciate any input. Feel free to PM me if that's more your thing.

I've only been there once, but in the company of my brother who lives in Everett and pedals there quite a bit. He definitely pays attention to the tides as the currents can get very strong in the various inlets, and many of them are nothing but mud at low tide.

We launched at a park just downstream of the I-5 bridge and pedaled up the mainstem Snohomish for about a mile before turning north into the delta. Saw some otters in there. We launched at high slack and the smaller channels started draining not too long into our trip. The currents were noticeable - much more than in the mainstem.

Not much help, but know the tide and stick to larger channels until you get a feel for the area.

This is nice info to have, thank you for providing it! In hindsight I probably should have been more specific, and it's possible that my terminology was off; I attached a map of my general planned travel path through what I'm calling the 'delta.'

I think my chosen launch/retrieve area will be a major PITA if I don't hit it around high tide. Probably my path through the 'delta' would also be easier if I passed through it when the tide is generally high.
