I'm happy to announce that we've confirmed that we'll have an Ocean Kayak as the grand prize in the 2009 AOTY.

We've had a number of new people register to the site lately.  It's not to late to get in on the fun.   The season has barely begun.   AOTY stand for Angler Of The Year and is a year long competition to see who can accumulate the most points fishing.  Points are awarded for the longest fish you catch in each of 10 categories.  For more information go to http://aoty.northwestkayakanglers.com/user

Guys, as you can imagine, the marketing budgets for a lot of manufacturers have been cut.  It's not as easy as it used to be to get quality prizes for events we hold.  It does help with the more people we have signed up.  So if you've been thinking about signing up for the AOTY, please do so ASAP.  We're going to pounding the streets hard in the coming weeks to round out prizes for this event and other derbies we have in the works this year.

How can it be in the works this year if OK already has a kayak in for first prize?   >:D

If you haven't signed up already, here are 10 reasons you should:

- You'll learn just how versitile your kayak really is
- You'll learn usefull fishing techniques
- You'll put your existing fishing skills to the test
- You'll have a darn good chance of winning a Brand New Kayak!
- You'll meet lots of like minded people
- Bragging rights
- You'll have an excuse to get on the water more
- Your power boating friends will share those secret spots and techniques they've been hoarding
- You will catch more fish
but the best reason to enter the 2009 AOTY is.....
- It's FUN!!!
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

Hey Z - If you'r on a role maybe you could hit up Kokatat for a couple dry suits (XXL).  Be nice to look sharp for those kayak angler magazines.

Thanks INSAYN you're all set now.

We're now up to 25 AOTY participants (21 + 4 youth).  Not bad for early March.  Hopefully as more people come out of hibernation that number will grow even higher.

Great work people. Talk about participation. So far, we've more than doubled the amount of entrants of last year. Great competition. More sponsors/prizes will be added to AOTY so it's looking to pay off well to the winners. Leeeet's... GET IT ON!!

It looks like some of our members are coming out of hibernation so I'm bringing this back to the top (and I l'll keep doing it occasionally).

The weather will be getting nice soon, so don't forget to sign up for the AOTY tournament before you start heading out to go fishing.
