Had such a fun day with Big Irv's charter!

The boat is super nice and comfortable, in addition to being the cleanest and most well organized charter boat I've ever been on. He provides incredibly nice custom rods and reels to use.

Chris navigates it with obvious skill and experience, clearly knows the area and it's fish populations intimately, and was always very aware of weather conditions and other craft, putting safety first, as it should be.

He worked hard to put us on the fish, and succeeded fantasticly. Everyone took home halibut, cod and rockfish.

In addition to the great fishing, we saw a ton of wildlife...orcas, feeding humpbacks, porpoise, sea lions, otters, and eagles.

The captain and his deckhand are both extremely polite, patient, and professional.

I have zero criticism for my Big Irv experience, everything was amazing, it was exactly what a chartered fishing trip should be.

Got a real workout jigging 1#+ lures at 300'+ all day. Lost a real big halibut. That's a 25" black rockfish, biggest I've ever seen.

So yeah, if you're in the Anchorage area and wanting to fish, I highly recommend you check out Big Irv's! Veteran owned and operated.
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

Thanks for the report.  Looks like a great time.  Nice cod.

Thanks! He runs out of Whittier, about an hour drive from Anchorage.

Nice experience. We went from Homer several years ago. It was nice to be able to fish for other species on a halibut trip.

Nice fish Cam! Those P-Cod are on my bucket list. I've heard mixed opinions about them as table fare: some say they're the best, others say they're pretty wormy. How did your fillet out?
