Any one rebuild there own reels, or modify them?

I have done a lot of older Penn conventional reels, a couple of Diawa's, and some Abu Garcia's.  The Penn's have parts for days and the limit to what can be done is really up to you and your imagination.  I will try and post some of the reels I have built over the years. 

I haven't done any modifications but I service my reels myself. I encourage people to get into it. There's few things more satisfying that resurrecting a reel you love back to better-than-new conditions.

Not trying to threadjack, but what does everyone prefer for lubrication? I've been a Reel Butter (Ardent) guy for a long time, but I'm open to suggestions.

Nothing complicated.  I removed the level wind mechanism from a penn 320gti so I could cast further.

I do a lot of reel maintenance and service for conventional saltwater reels.  Not much for modding, but an occasional handle upgrade or changing drag stacks.  It's very rewarding to revive a corroded broken unusable reel and bring it back to fetching a big ling or salmon.  I like cals drag grease, yamalube, corrosion x, reelX.  Kroil is amazing for breaking stubborn parts free.
