For those of you who were wondering, Team USA brought home the gold with Mexico taking second and Costa Rica taking third!

It wasn't without significant effort however.  What we thought would be pre-fishing days turned into days of problem solving and kayak re-engineering on Chinese knock offs of department store yaks.  The limited pre-fishing time we had was marked by rudder failures, drive failures and managing hull defects.  Luckily, on the eve of the contest, team USA's demand for a safer kayak (Vibe Makana 100s with Hobie style V1 drives) was fulfilled.  Set-up and debugging went well into the night but come game day, all of our team members were able to hit the water.

Two standouts were local ex-pats Guy Marsh and Lance Clinton who took 1st and 2nd in the individual categories.

For your shot at global competition, keep an eye out for upcoming qualifying events such as the Gimme Shelter tournament in NorCal.

Congrats Mark and the entire team.  Sounds like a great experience.

Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.
