SD2OR and I launched out of a foggy Sunset Bay and headed NW to the area off the mouth of CoosBay (where Pepper and I picked up a chinook on Aug 26, 2021), where it smoothed out nicely but nothing good happening.  We got to 220' of water (about 3.5 miles out from Sunset Bay) but I never saw a temp over 52.8F, no baitfish or even crud lines and several of the birds that we saw actually asked me whether I had seen any fish.  ;D

We both picked up some decent sized black rockfish on the way in, plus a greenling and 'just legal' lingcod for SD2OR, but nothing big on the bite along the NW reefs.  My crab pots were nicely loaded with good sized crab, the first had 8 keepers (6 full, 2 decent), the second pot had only female, not a single male crab in it.  cheers, roger

The greenling had blue meat, like a ling, never caught one like that before. Unfortunately, the meat also had a lot of worms/parasites.
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

It's like the male and female crabs feed in different areas.

Nice going on the rockfish, good eating!

Yeah, the rockfish never disappoints. Just ate a bunch, with homemade pesto with basil from our garden.
