You have to really admire the native coastal  Indians for the work they put into creating something as mundane as a fish bonker.  Saw this the other day at the Maritime Museum in Astoria and immediately felt quite ashamed of my sawed off Louisville Slugger baseball bat.

Very cool. For a few years I've been making fish bonkers for people for gifts, certainly aren't near as ornate!
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

I've got a chittum limb that fits in my rod holder. It's 22" so I can measure a lingcod with it. It's pretty ugly.

wow, those made by the coastal natives look amazing.

the one that SD2OR made for me from cherry wood is sweet and usually gets the job done.  In fact, it just made an appearance in my Tahk coho video but it definitely took several whacks just to get the attention of that big buck.  lol
