Here we go!

I am going to revive the Oregon Rockfish Classic.   Not only is the ORC going to get a revival, but it's also going to be a sanctioned USAngling event as a regional qualifier for Nationals in Florida in August of this year.   I'm planning on holding the event on July 19th, 2025. The ORC will be one of two qualifying events on the west coast.  It should draw competitors from all over.  There will be a lot of great prizes.  Top 10 will qualify for Nationals.  Competing in Nationals will give anglers the chance to join the USA Saltwater Kayak Fishing Team alongside myself and Mark (aka spot).   It's an amazing opportunity for anyone that wants it.

Details for the ORC are being worked out now.  I will have it all ironed out in the coming month or so hopefully.  One thing that is needed are a few Volunteers for the captains meeting and the day of the event.  They would be doing things like checking anglers in before they launch at one of the two launch sites and checking them in as they return.  Helping with paperwork at the captains meeting on the Friday before.  Also helping inspect kayaks. I'm sure there will be other things that will be needed.  All in All, it should not be too tough to help out and still be able to fish the event.  With out any help we won't be able to have a smooth event. Please consider volunteering a little bit of time if you can.  If we can get 10 or so folks to help out, I think this can be done with minimal issues.   If you think you can help with things a little, please reply to this thread and I will put your name on a list.

If you have any ideas or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me.   Jim Davis (Jimbob45)

I have the Oregon Rockfish Classic FB page from 2 years ago. I think I could give it to you. Not exactly sure how that works.

That’s awesome Jim.  ORC is such a great event.  Glad to hear it is back for 2025.  I am available to help however I can.
The two best times to fish is when it’s raining and when it ain’t. -Patrick McManus

Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

The birth of ORC ... https://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=1488.0

A lot of those names are still around.  Although I have tears in my eyes seeing posts from Pelagic (Ron Sauber) and kykfshr  (Scott Brenneman), may they rest in peace.

And now we have the rebirth of ORC!   I'm working on getting a kayak prize.  I'll shoot for some other goodies as well.

Thanks everyone.  Its going to be a little bit of work but I'm hoping to make it better than ever with sights set on bigger than ever!  I think we can make this go relatively smooth.    I'm looking forward to what the future of the ORC could become!

Saw polepole's post on FB.  SWMBO says i should be able to go.  I'm kinda rusty at running taco feeds, but I'd be happy to do something like that again.  Haven't gotten salty in far too long.  Will have to fix that before July.

If for some reason I don't think I can fish, I would help out with wherever needed.  But I'm hopeful about actually fishing.

Have you decided on a format yet?  Single biggest? Slam weight for rockfish, greenling, cabezon and lingcod?  Something else?
