anyone thinking of braving the cold salt tomorrow?
seems like it could be doable with primary, secondary, and tertiary swells <2ft @ 10-15s and E winds?

also, I don't have much experience in winter bottom fishing.....are the fish less active when it's this cold?

where are you seeing that forecast?

NOAA has a different story

WED...E wind 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 4 to 6 ft.
Wave Detail: E 3 ft at 4 seconds and W 4 ft at 14 seconds.

those 4-6 ft wind waves sound like a washing machine.  It will be doable but may want to bring some Kwells/Dramamine  ;)

Surfline shows doable swell, but windier than I'd go out in.

Seems the best bite has been shallower, 30-70 FOW.
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

thanks for the tip!
Surfline is showing <2ft but if NOAA is showing 4ft I'll have to rethink going.

Windy shows a pocket of lower winds from Depoe to Lincoln but not sure how likely that is given higher winds in other places.

from what I see, you would be going out into a building wind situation, getting stronger.  With the wind and lower temperatures,  it will be super cold and could turn sour in a short time.
"A venturesome minority will always be eager to get off on their own,
and no obstacle should be placed in their path;
let them take risk, for God sake, let them get lost, sun burnt, stranded, drowned,
eaten by bears, buried alive under avalanches -
that is the right and privilege of any free American."

The swell was mellow today. But the east wind was whipping up whitecaps everywhere. Plus, it was 26-28 degrees this morning. I saw some boats fishing off Seal Rock on my commute from Newport to Waldport this morning. It looked straight-up miserable for kayaking.

The east winds on the coast are no joke this time of year. They may not build swell behind them, but they're almost always under-forecasted and they suck to fish in. Not to mention the frigid temps.
