With Moutcha closing this year we've got kind of a hole in our tourney season. we'll be doing an MBF (Money Between Friends) for pink salmon in the Possession Sound area.... we give you
The Picnic Point Pinkout!

It's a fun and hot fishery with this year's returns looking to be very good. Actually it's looking to be awesome with 2 million more pinks returning that normal to put the forecast at 5.1 million pinks. Pinks run from August to September and the Possession Sound area gets most of the action. It can get crowded but I'm sure we'll all be able to find some room. It couldn't be any worse than the Everrett Coho Derby!

Fishing for pinks is pretty simple and they run shallow compared to the other salmon species. Pinks can be found at the surface to about 90 feet.

So, what do you guys think? Have questions? Converse!

I'd be up for that one, if it were a weekend kinda deal.  I'll be fishin' pinks in several places on the northern end of the sound, but would enjoy gettin' together and bumpin' a few stinkpots off the fish  >:D

With some dates out far enough, I'll be putting in for the Saturday off. That'll cover last place... ;D   Whose taking first place????

Basically you all should plan on kayak fishing all the weekends in August and the first few in September.  That about covers it.   ;D

Last weekend in August was when Moutcha was going to be.  Let's fill this weekend with something for sure.  I was suggesting an Oregon event, but if you Oregon boys need to figure out what you want to do.  And if you want that weekend, better jump on it fast or Zee will be off and running with a humpy event.  Oregon makes for a good weekend event.  Pinks make for a good day event.  No real homebase/campground options that are as good as a homebase/campground opportunituties we have at the coast.  So if we're pushing a full weekend, then I vote for Oregon.

Just want to make it clear I'm not doing this instead of but in addition to the Pac City tournament. I love that place! And most likely it'll just be an MBF.

I'm hoping to find out what the south side of Cape Lookout is like as far as fish and crab go.  Maybe pull a derby there as well.

I'm in for a little Humpy action.  Dates are not really important to me since I plan on fishing evenings after work as well as every weekend while they're running.   ;D

The Picnic Point Pinkout MBF is ON!
Date: TBD
Time: 6-7AM registration, 2PM closing
Location: Picnic Point
Fee: $20
Format: Pink Salmon only. Longest combined limit (2) wins
Prizes: 3/4 of the pot goes to the winner. 2nd & 3rd place split the remaining
*Potluck after tournament @ Picnic area

So let's get some dates together then. The Pac City tournament takes the lead and I'm guessing it will take place on the last weekend of August (29-30) in Moutcha's place. The pink run should be hot right at about the same time so we could put it either before or after to take advantage. Most likely the run will be on time or late so how about September Sat. 13th? That'll give a two week buffer between the two events and should give us the best opportunity for some hot fishing. Thoughts?

I think that the logistics would be against having a tournament at the Boy Scout Camp.

I'm down with getting my Hump on!   ;D

I'm not opposed to doing the Pacific Beach thing a bit earlier and the pink salmon at the end of August.  Actually, for me the earlier everything is the better.

I was actually thinking the same thing, but was hesitating to bring it up.  But since you did ...  ::)

Would love to find a campground on the lower snoho that we can base out of.  Do the salt one day and drift the lower snoho for river pinks the next.  Heck, given another day we can do a city run and fish the schooling pinks on the fly in the lower duwamish.  Three different style ... thrice the fun!!!
