One of the criteria for winning prizes in this division is that you must provide an on the water photograph of the entry on the human powered watercraft it was caught on.  So please be sure to have a camera or fish with a person that has a camera.  Thanks.

In addition to the grand prize (kayak), we are working on other prizes.  I'm thinking at least one will be a raffle prize and you must be present to win.  This way we can get a better count of those participating.  Prize will be done at the Sunday weigh in ceremony (ending at 2PM on Sunday).

Allen, I'm coming over for this too. Should be a blast! I'll be there Sat and Sun. and like Zeelander, will probably mostly be fly fishing.

I've talked to Josh last week about making some Wilderness boats available, so if anyone wants to try one for the day or weekend, we'll see what we can do...just say the word.

By the way, the launch at Langus will be a zoo and there's really not a good place to launch a kayak out of the way of the power boaters using the ramp. Another option might be a little upstream at the Everett Rowers crew dock (still part of Langus park and owned by the city). A bit more of a carry but I've used it when it was too busy at the launch. I've got friends who row there and can check to see how busy the crew dock will be.

For those of you who haven't fished here before, it's easy to get disoriented in the estuary. Check out this publication and map of the area: http://www1.co.snohomish.wa.us/Departments/Parks/Services/Publications/Estuary_Guide.htm It will be well worth the $5 if you want to get way from the craziness of the main channel.

I've been thinking of trying to avoid the crowds at Langus by using a different launch in Marysville. It's between I-5 and Hwy 529, on the N side of Ebey Slough. It's a free city park/launch. (It's also close to Priest Point, for those future dino hunts. >:D) I checked it out, the other day, on my way home. There's even a little playground, to keep my kid busy while I gear up and down. (The derby has a free kids division.) Here's a Acme link- http://mapper.acme.com/?ll=48.04712,-122.17857&z=17&t=H&marker0=48.04712%2C-122.17857%2C0.6%20km%20SxSW%20of%20Marysville%20WA\

I have no idea when I'll get there, but like the looks of the afternoon high. I'll probably shoot for riding the last couple hours of flood upstream, then ride the ebb back down. The water is pretty murky through here, plus the kid, probably means leaving the flyrod alone.

I do like the idea of a BBQ Saturday evening. ;D

I figure pretty much anywhere will get crowded, but if you think it won't be a problem on the crew dock, perhaps that's a good place to start.

Pisco, ride the high upstream to Langus, BBQ with us, and I'll give you a car ride back down to get you car. Now that I look at the tides, I guess they aren't the greatest for fishing the estuary in the morning, but it's all I got since I'll have booth duty.   ::)

Any other potential plans?

My launch is several sloughs over from the main river. If I can make this link work, point B is my launch and  point A is Langus. http://mapper.acme.com/?ll=47.99199,-122.13261&z=12&t=H&marker0=48.00095%2C-122.17690%2C3.0%20km%20NE%20of%20Everett%20WA&marker1=48.04712%2C-122.17857%2C0.6%20km%20SxSW%20of%20Marysville%20WA%5C

What time is the BBQ and what should I bring?

All,

Anybody wanting to partner up for this thing?  For overall safety, I don't like to paddle on my own that much.  And besides, I'll need somebody to snap my Trident winning picture for me.  I'll be willing to snap one for a partner so that they can secure that second place paddle, no problem.

Seriously, anybody want to partner up for either one or both of those days?  Like most of the rest of you hon-yocks, I plan to fish starting at the above mentioned launch at the Langus park crew dock on the Snohomish.

My Trident is in and I'm picking it up on Friday.  You are welcome to use it one of the days, just let me know which one.

Polepole,

I think I know the answer, but I gotta ask... Are we expected to bring an un-gutted fish to the weigh station?  What do guys normally do if they catch that monster after 4 pm on Sat?  Do they let it go bad?  Or do they tie it to a rock and retrieve it in the morning?  Just some thoughts.
