I've reserved and paid for site A01 at Beverly Beach.  I'm still not 100% sure if I can make it, but I figure someone might want to go last minute if I can't.

Brian

I'm in A05 (A02 said small tent on reservation notes)  ;D

Going to order my drysuit tomorrow, then I'll be prepping for the big blue in the weeks to come.

Am I to believe that Oregon wants me to cough up $49 dollars as a non-resident to fish for two days (Angling harvest tag + 2 day fishing license + invasive species tag)?  That is basically what I paid for an entire year in WA for salt and fresh.

Just read the the pay to play thread... looks like I can remove $5 for the invasive species tag; $44.  Can somebody confirm that this is what it costs for the licenses or did I read it wrong?  Don't count me as out yet, I just need to scrounge up the money for the trip overall.

So far, this is very encouraging, Bsteves and Yarjammer are having second thoughts! Looking forward to meeting you PSR.

I am also thinking that launching at Beverly Beach might be another option with conditions permitting. Depoe Bay is 6 miles away, and with all the traffic issues?

Zee, why was Depoe the final option?

Where are we launching from?  Out of Depoe Bay harbor itself or somewhere near?

With a potential of many kayaks entering this contest, has anyone put the word out to the harbor master, coast guard or whomever is the head cheeze of that harbor?
Was hoping our boy Fish Sniffer could contact the harbor master and let them know about the influx of kayak fishermen that weekend.

If Fish Sniffer doesn't have any point of contact there, I can reach out to the Coast Guard.  I work with them routinely.

I'm only not 100% sure because my wife will be just about full term with our second child (due the 29th).  We'll see how's she is feeling that week before I know if I'll be going.

22.50 for two days yar, no harvest tag is required for rockfish. I'm gonna try to be there at least for Saturday..
See ya on the water..

Zee, why was Depoe the final option?
We talked it over a bit and we (Spot) figure it's pretty much the easiest spot to launch on the coast. It's also the most central so that OR & WA entrants could all make it easily. The hardest part about pulling this off is the conditions being good enough for us to all launch. If the swell is up it could ruin it for a lot of us. The launch at Depoe is the most likely to remain doable if the conditions do get difficult. That and I heard from a little birdie that the rockfishing there is aweeeesome..

I'm gonna try to be there at least for Saturday..
Hope to see you there CBY.

Thanks CBY, that is much more reasonable. :)  I just need to make sure I'll be in town that weekend since my office is sending me away at some point in early Sept.

I think the hopes are that coho might be included.

Most likely it will be closed by then :(. The ocean quota  is generally met well before the 2nd week of sept.  You never know, supposed to be a great run,  lets hope we get a shot at them.  I am going after them this week conditions permitting..

Seems like if its called the "rockfish classic" then rockfish and similar species (lings) would be the only acceptable entries?  Can a guy win the "pink out" with a big ling? ;D

No.  Lings are close then in the area we'll be fishing.
