Most likely it will be closed by then :(. The ocean quota  is generally met well before the 2nd week of sept.  You never know, supposed to be a great run,  lets hope we get a shot at them.  I am going after them this week conditions permitting..

Seems like if its called the "rockfish classic" then rockfish and similar species (lings) would be the only acceptable entries?  Can a guy win the "pink out" with a big ling? ;D

My guess is that will be closed too.  The quota for Sept is only a few thousand coho and if the fishing is good it won't last long.

As for it being called the "rockfish classic"..
a) this is the second year of a tournament on the Oregon Coast so I don't know how classic that is yet and
b) that's just the title Zee came up with for this post.  :)

But I'm sure it will be "classic" and even "legendary" none the less.

Just pulled the trigger on my drysuit (outdoor play)  ;D.    Decided to go with the Supernova Angler.

Very excited about hitting up the big blue and getting to meet everyone at the "classic" this year.

The tournament is for rockfish (including cabezon and greenling) and lings. If Coho is open during the tournament there will be a special prize for the heaviest one. Just remember that to be legal it needs to be caught on a barbless hook.

Thanks guys.

Who's brining the deep fryer?  That Panko rock fish was worth the entry fee!

Seriously, who has a fryer they can bring? If there isn't one I'm gonna have to spring for one. A rockfish tournament just ain't rockfish tournament w/o a fish fry afterwards.

I've got a 20qt dutch oven and a crab cooker that has worked well in the past. I would be happy to bring it along.

If i have that weekend free, I'll try and drag along my campstove (big ass 2 burner 66,000 BTU propane bomb) and 5 gallon pot.  Although all of the gear may be a bit much.  I will bring a portable vacuum sealer.

Beverly Beach is a good campsite.  I'd be down with splitting the cost of a tent site (I'll sleep in my car), unless someone manages to grab a yurt or group site.

I've reserved and paid for site A01 at Beverly Beach.  I'm still not 100% sure if I can make it, but I figure someone might want to go last minute if I can't.

Brian

Ill take the spot if you can't go, maybe if you can go i can park my new mobil casa in your spot or someone elses if i can't get a spot?

Thanks guys.

Good thinking, but the spot he reserved is tent camping only, and specifically says no tent trailers.   :'(
I was gonna try that one too.

Here's a link to where you can reserve sites at Beverly Beach online.

Roy, there are still several trailer spaces without hookups available in the A section.

So far the group has sites 1,3,5 and 31 reserved. Any others?
