yeah maybe... but only if you can bilge the water out of your hull, glue your FF in place, un-huli yourself, and retrieve your rod from the water faster that I can get hooked up.

I kid... I kid...  It's going to be a blast!   See you Friday!

I don't care if it is the biggest sturgeon or bluegill contest.  A contest is a contest and this is going to be a blast, how about a biggest crawdad/crab venue for the kids?  Wait, I'm good for that too cause I'm a crawdad junkie. ;D

Just think outside the box and and have a good time, I'm in. ;D
See ya there...where and whatever it is,

Darn, Mother nature can be a real B^%$H sometimes...

I voted for having the tourney at big creek res. Maybe i can get some LMB points on the board finally...

I got enough rockfish in the freezer to feed a small army. between all of us we could still have a bountiful fish fry
See ya on the water..

any word on the final format?  I am getting my gear together and would like to narrow it down if possible.  Is is a straight trout derby?  or largest fish brought in period? Bass etc. or??  Would love to not bring a bunch of stuff I won't need.

I'm going to bring equipment for salt and freshwater, just in case.  I might even cast of the rocks of Depoe Bay at night where I used to fish.  Does anyone have any information about the depth/structure of Big Creek Reservoir?  Or about the general size of the trout/bass?

Scott, I saw a rainbow caught there by a bank fisherman that was about the size of the one you are holding in your avatar.  Well, may not that big, but at least five pounds.

I'll second that.  I watched a lady pull in a good 4-5lb pig on a kids rod loaded with powerbait.  All the fish I've caught out of there have been really thick.

I'm partial to the largest fish period format.

The format will be the same. ie. We'll all launch from the same launch and land point, heaviest fish wins, top 3 fish get prizes and raffle open to all.

Heaviest fish wins regardless of species. The reservoir has a good reputation big fish of all kinds so as far as which will be bigger should be a good battle.

For those who want to CNR LMB's, bring your VHF radio. I'll be doing some on the water weigh in's.

I'm going to disagree with plan C, yet commit to whatever is decided this year.  However I am going to make a point here that for next year all planning for backup venues/locations should be announced at the same time of the primary plan.  Changing the venue just days before the event puts a hamper on several things (yet probably not for those that did the planning as they most likely had this in the back of their mind from the beginning  :-\).

I just spent a fair bit of money on gear and tackle to compete in a rock fishing tournament, and never put anything towards freshwater fishing.   Also, myself and possibly others could have made camping/hotel arrangements that would have put us somewhere more central to the primary, and backup locations.  At this point, I am going to nearly double my drive in the morning down to the event if we go to Big Creek.

Yup, I'm a little grouchy about this but it's too late now.   :disgust:

I am voting plan D, to have the potluck, and possibly the raffle, but no freshwater tournament.  It wasn't in the plans, therefore shouldn't be switched to it to.   That and I really don't like fishing for trout now that I have landed rockfish in my yak.  ;D
