Bsteves and the OR boys have been doing good w/ the monthly meetings and looks pretty fun. If there's interest to do one in a central location so it would be easier for all of us to attend, I'd be interested. Who's in?

Zee we have the south sound one were going to try and get started. You can come down see how it goes and maybe we can move it a little further north so its convient for us all.

Would really like to get us all involved in monthly chats.

Lacey is way too far for us in the Seattle area. Especially midweek. That's why I suggested making it more central. Maybe Renton-ish area so that the north of Seattle could join in too.

Oh it's not Lacey man, it's in Dupont.  That's north of the Nasty.

I am open as time moves on for something more central mid week if we can get great participation. Some car pooling might be helpful and give folks more time to get to know oneanother.

A more centralized location for monthly meetings would be awesome. I've always wondered why those Oregon boys(more power to you)seem more active. Being able to meet and converse personally would help open up new avenues for hooking up with other members for trips, tips and just plain fun. I live in Marysville & work in
Mt Vernon and a trip to Seattle  once a mth would be doable. Count me in. I'm rigging my yak and am almost all set to start getting active again.

fishnut. i think one of the reasons the oregon boys are more active. most of them live within a hour or so from each other.. between you washington  guys up north and our washing guys down south in Lacey and Tacoma. theres about a 3 hour gap and in rush hour sometimes way more. So i think thats why the activity isnt alot sometimes up here.

A brainstorm thought for discussion - what if North sound, say Seattle and North had a monthly meeting.  South Sound had their meeting monthly meeting then both met quarterly together to kayak fish or???
Maybe twice a year got North Sound, Sound Sound and Portland toghther?

I'm liking Holt's idea.  Hey, NONE of it's mandatory or anything.  So why the heck not?

Hey, this isn't going to involve dues and stuff, is it?  Cause I haven't had income in a REALLY long time now.

T.."dues"= not even an idea when i started thinking about the south ender meetings. other than gas to and from, your "dues" would amount to what your personal bill is at the establishment we are meeting at.

Holt has a good idea. personally i really do not care to fight traffic going into the city, and like CHM out on the coast, if i can avoid going into it, i do. thats the main reason i looked more locally.

still, thats not to detract from Zee's idea. there are plenty of members in the greater metropolitan area who should be able to attend no problem.

and, to reiterate, i like Holt's idea , too. gives us "flex'

Ok, so a south sound and north sound meetup and we can always feel free to go to the other if we feel like it. So for the Seattle crew, some ideas on a place? My personal fave is Dad Watsons in Fremont. They'll let us drink their wonderful beer and take up space as long as we want. I really could go for a Terminator stout right now.. Anyway, what do you guys think?

Zee,

That location sounds totally decent for at least openers.  I can show up for this kind of thing most of the time.  Unless and until work (should I ever find some again) takes me out of town (and it nearly always does).
