The lime-cumin slaw is good stuff. Very simple and adds a nice cool note to spicy tacos. Paul's fish taco sauce is top notch though!  Now, I'm getting hungry!

My traditional beer batter for fish tacos is "Pride of the West" batter mix.

You can use water, beer, or both to get the batter to the consistency you like.  Go thick enough on the batter and you can just about make fish doughnuts.

Also, theres no need to add any other seasoning to it, especially salt.
It's great the way it is right out of the box.

You can also dry coat with it, and give it light crispy coating.
Just roll the fish in the dry Pride of the West powder.
Dip in egg wash.
Then back in another bowl of 50/50 Pride of the West and Panko.
Let it sit for about 8-10 mins to set up before frying.

I had to revive this thread to let everyone know that RR's fish taco recipe is bomb. I used his recipe as a guide to make my own. Seriously so good! The breading and the sauce make sweet tender love in your mouth.  It is out of this world! Haha.
No pics of this food porn. I was too hungry to wait.

"place all purpose flour, garlic salt, and Johnny's seasoning into a zip lock bag. Place fish in with mixture. Shake the hell out of it."  .......what r the measurements?

am making this right now. ur 1st post dry mix no measurements so am going with second post.  neither post says what measurement of panko to bread crumbs? one to one, i hope?    been awhile since this was brought up, doing anything different?

no time to waste, for now am just gonna do fish in "louisana" brand fish fry mix.

I revised my methods since this post. You can use the beer batter recipe of your choice doesn't have to be mine.

For the Panko crust part I just use two cups of Panko in a bowl and one generous tablespoon of jonny's, one teaspoon cayenne. Mix it together and coat the fish that's already been dipped in the beer batter. In the oil it goes and you're in business.

Good luck!
